Elflover59 wanted Lord of the Rings, and Thranduil stepped in! Merry Christmas!

Thranduil waited for Nimbrethil in the common area that connected their sons’ bedrooms. Belegorn had just gone to sleep, and Legolas had been asleep for hours, but Eithelas was having a hard time settling down after searching for Legolas outside the castle.

Legolas worried Thranduil. He had seen this behavior before, and the elf who had escaped the castle, sleepwalking, to stand beside that tree was dead now. Thranduil didn’t believe in legends, but his brother had told him once about a mysterious Lady who lived in the tree.

“Eithelas fell asleep at last,” Nimbrethil said. “I believe that Legolas’ escapade disturbed him more than he cared to admit.”

Thranduil nodded absently, and placing an arm around her shoulders guided his wife to their bedroom.

“Did Eithelas mention a Lady in a tree?” he asked once they reached their quarters.

Nimbrethil looked at him, startled. “What?”

“Did he?”

“No, he was concerned about the secret passage…”

“I will speak with those boys about it tomorrow.”

Nimbrethil nodded. “Talk to me, Thranduil. What Lady in a tree?”

Thranduil sighed and took her hands. “She was a Lady who lived in King Elu’s realm. She fell in love with my father. He thought her dead, but her spirit didn’t heed the summons.”

“So she is now in a tree?”

Thranduil nodded. “She almost caused my brother’s death once. I thought she was gone, or dormant.”

Nimbrethil looked really alarmed now. “Thranduil, we need to keep our sons away from that tree?”

“We will, beloved. I will speak with them all tomorrow.”
